I am looking for informajson on Olof Nelson believed to have been born in Farsund 31 December 1873 married in Sculcoates Yorkshire England in 1907 to Alice Meier. I would be very greatful for any help or advice in locating Olof's family i Farsund. Mange Takk for your time.

What time did Olof emigrate to England (date,year)?With boat? From which place?
What were the names of his children if he had children?Where did you find the information about the date of his birth? Did Olof and Alice stay/live in England or another country/state (name?) after the marriage?

It is fine to know that, because the information can help us more to locate his (Olof) family
in Farsund.

Olof's gggranddaughter told me when he was born. I am notsure when he migrated to England and I presume that he was probably a sailor as he lived in Hull in England and Alice's father was a norwegian Olof Meier who migrated in 1881. One of Olof's children was Olof Nelson as well and he had a daughter Heather Nelson. Olof died in England. Olof does not appear on the 1901 census in England and he and Alice were married in 1907. Unfortunately this is all we know.

One candidate is Ole Nilsen, in 1900 census on Spindanger in Spind: http://www.rhd.uit.no/folketellinger/ft ... 022&lnr=00

Spind parish is today a part of Farsund kommune. This Ole Nilsen was a sailor. But he was born in Lyngdal parish, on Rovedal farm, probably late 1871. He is mentioned on page 208 in the bygdebok Lyngdal I. He was baptized in Lyngdal church 21 Jan. 1872: http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/ ... 4friendly=

Perhaps there is more information in Spind bygdebok, or in the church records.

Mange Takk for replying to me. If this Ole Nilsen had of been baptised i 1873 I could say ja it was him. Olof was født December 1873 so I don't tink this Ole could be him as he was baptsed i 1872
