Parents of Abrahamine og Christian Museus
In the 1801 census, Abrahamine Museus, 24 is married to Hans Bohsen, 54, and this is the first marriage for both. (http://digitalarkivet.arkivverket.no/ft ... 8337001127)
Also living with them is Abrahamine's brother, Christian Museus, 18.
I am interested in finding out the parents of Abrahamine and Christian Museus. I don't know which churchbooks to search for marriages and birth records for this prestegjeld prior to 1801 and any help would be appreciated.
Takk - De kan skrive på norsk.

Hei, John!
Mandal by lå i Halse prestegjeld. Dersom Hans og Abrahamine gifta seg i Mandal, bør de altså kunne finnes i kirkebøkene for Halse.

Re: Parents of Abrahamine og Christian Museus
Disse personene med navnet Musæus kan vel være slektninger av Abrahamine:

Re: Parents of Abrahamine og Christian Museus

Thanks so much, Torodd, especially for the marriage record!! She married at quite a young age, and it was quite an age difference.
Yes, the other people with this last name might be relatives, although from an entirely different fylke.
Takk igjen!

Re: Parents of Abrahamine og Christian Museus
Thanks again, Torodd -- these are great references and I can't imagine how you found them!
I can read the Norwegian just great, but I appreciate your offer to translate.
One of the challenges that we outside of Norway face is that many digitized books are not available to us, but the book "Personalhistorie for Trondhjems by og omegn i et tidsrum..." is digitized on a web page of the kommune of Trondheim, so it was a good reference to read.
I wish I had a time machine to see how Abrahamine and her brother Christian came to Mandal from Trondheim, while the rest of the family stayed in Trondheim. Abrahamine's husband (Hans Bohsen) must have made an exceptionally good impression on Christian, since when he later had children of his own, he named a son Hans Botzien/Bohsen, which is a name that carried over when the son came to the US, where he was a soldier in our Civil War and is thus in our database. For each soldier, we have been trying to develop a genealogy of his ancestors and you have helped an incredible amount!
Thanks again so much,
John
