Yes that is his parents in your census record. His mother was sometimes referrred to as Marie also, rather than Anne Marie or Anna Maria. I will make a letter and mail it to those Sorensens. tusen takk for your great advice!

No, I have not done that, how would I find those, names and addresses? Is there a way to see if he settled there? From your experience, was that a stop over point to anywhere else?

I am trying to find out what happened to a great uncle of ours who apparantly traveled from Norway to Africa in the late 1800's. A record provided to me, by a volunteer shows him leaving Norway in the 1890's for that port....in Durban, i believe in S. Africa. His name was Carl/Karl ...
